Happy Labor Day 2008!!

I wish I could say we took some awesome vacation but the truth is we stayed right here in Douglasville! A relaxing weekend however, spent at home with each other! Gotta love those! We did visit with friends who chose to stay close to home as well. And of course Landon cooked a wonderful meal. Ribs, corn, baked beans, and his world famous cheesecake on Sunday. That thing is yummy!!! Landon watched lots of football and Laura Beth found herself a new boyfriend named Wyatt Saturday night. We were over at some friends of Paula and Ben's in Newnan and she kept following a 3 year old around saying "mere Wyatt, mere" (translation "come here Wyatt"). She copied everything he did and when we were leaving she waved and said "bye Wyatt, hug.." He hugged her and then she said "kiss, kiss" and started leaning toward him. He was soooo cute, and turned away, saying, "what's happening here?" Too funny!!!

Last week went by so fast and there was no time to blog. Landon was in Minnesota on business and Laura Beth had a viral infection of some sort. I had to take off a half day on Tuesday and the entire day on Wednesday. She was just fussy and wanted to be held constantly. I didn't mind! I know the days of cuddling and holding my little baby are getting shorter and shorter so I welcome the opportunities. Today we went to look at new couches and had lunch. We didn't make a final decision but hope to soon as our couches are on their last leg. Laura Beth just enjoyed running around the showroom and having Daddy chase her. Lunch at a restaurant was as as usual.... find as many ways as you can to keep a one year old occupied and in her high chair while you attempt to eat. All in all I was just happy to spend time with my family! As for next weekend, Laura Beth is going to visit Nana and Papa while Daddy goes hunting. That means ... the whole house to myself! Wow.. what will I do? It has been a long time since that has happened.

Here are a few pics of Laura Beth I snapped the other day. She's in her room, looking at her books.

Good Friends, Good Times!

I can't believe the weekend is over and it's back to the hustle and bustle! Friday, Laura Beth and I spent the afternoon together. We went to Toys R Us with LaNae and Jude. Jude was getting a transformer for excellent behavior so I decided Laura Beth and I would join them and get her a new toy as well (first time going to toys r us to get a toy for no reason.. kinda fun!). We decided on a baby doll and baby highchair. She has been feeding her baby it's bottle all weekend. Too cute! I was totally exhausted and in bed by 9:00 on Friday night. Saturday we went to Augusta for Tiff's 30th surprise party. Jeff did a wonderful job putting together her party. I enjoyed spending time with my best girlfriends and watching our children play together. I was able to visit with Liv, Tiff and Ali (my high school buddies) My pictures aren't very good as I desperately need a new camera! It's just so nice to have such amazing friends that truly feel like family. We drove into town and went straight to Tiffany and Jeff's. We arrived with our crazy dog and one year old. They always make you feel so welcome and right at home. I never feel intrusive at the Bachelders. It really feels like I am at home with my sisters. Harris and Laura Beth are getting so big and running around talking and making us laugh. Time truly does fly! We are all 30 now! Wow! I am so blessed by my friendships! Thanks girls! Best of all, I was able to visit with my Daddy this morning. We went to his house for breakfast. It only took LB a few minutes to warm up and then she was in her Pawpaw's arms. I so wish we were able to spend more time together as I know she would just adore him.

Working Mom!!

Well it's official and we survived!!! Today I completed my first week back at work. We had pre-planning this week and I will welcome my kids on Monday. It was a crazy busy week as I had to set up a new classroom and get acclimated to our new schedule. Laura Beth did wonderful and was delighted to spend as much time as she could with LaNae and Jude. Last week I began to second guess my decision and complain for a moment "poor me...why do I have to go back to work".. you know the drill. Then about Sunday it hit me... why am I complaining!! How about "lucky me, I have a job." With the economy the way it is and people suffering, how dare I even begin to complain. I am blessed to have a job I love. A job that is secure and even allows me to pick up my baby at 3:30 each day, a wonderful caretaker for my daughter and a supportive husband to pick up where I leave off. So on Monday morning I embraced the decision I had made and was met with open arms at school. At the end of this week I must say I am exhausted. However, I am optimistic and excited about the year ahead. Although I deeply missed my time with Laura Beth I have to say it is nice to feel like a grown up again and have my time. Housework was much lighter and I seemed to prioritize better since I have to. I can't wait to meet my students on Monday and be able to share my gifts with them. I hope to uplift, inspire, and teach!

This weekend we plan to spend time together around the house and head over to Laura's to grill out tomorrow night. We are going shopping to get Laura Beth some pajamas, a potty, and a mirrow. I must explain: The pajamas.. well she just keeps growing and growing. The potty... yes a bit early I know but she has recently started telling us "diaper" when she has pooped in her diaper. She also comes into the bathroom with us and says "yucky." We figure we'll atleast get one and put in the bathroom if she wants to try to sit and use it. The mirror.... funny! Lately, Laura Beth has an obsession with looking at herself in the mirror. We only have mirrors high in the bathrooms. She reaches and says "baby" "baby" as she wants us to stand her up on the counter so she can see herself. LaNae has a stand up mirror in her bedroom and Laura Beth loves to hang out in front of it. So we're going to hang one up in her room. :)

I know my blogs won't be as frequent. So until next time.. Goodnight! I am off to get some much needed rest!
